Institute of Ethics Scholarships for Freshmen & Transfer Students - FAH (Vol., No.)


Overview/Background
Students are advised that the Kegley Institute of Ethics is pleased to offer two new scholarships in the amount of $2,000 each that will provide financial assistance to one incoming freshman and one transfer student. Eligible students must complete an Interdisciplinary Ethics minor and incorporate ethical evaluation in their chosen major.

Eligibility
The Kegley Institute Scholarships are designated for students who enroll in the Interdisciplinary Ethics minor and who will incorporate ethical evaluation in their chosen major (the institute will assist with this). Students must be enrolled full-time and have at least a cumulative 3.2 high school or transfer GPA.

Application Process
Applicants must complete a CSUB Academic Scholarship Application and two CSUB Academic Scholarship Recommendation Forms. Applications must include a brief (100 word maximum) biography, a planned course of study, and a sentence or two on the student's career plans.

Applicants must also attach an additional 400 word maximum essay explaining why they think ethics is important to their chosen career and what issues are of particular relevance.

Selection
Completed applications will be reviewed by a committee composed of faculty associated with CSUB.s Kegley Institute of Ethics. The scholarships will remain available until filled; however, applications will be reviewed on December 1, 2006 for '2006-'07 transfer students, and on March 1, 2007 for 2007-08 freshmen and transfer students.

Renewals
Recipients may be eligible for a one-year renewal; however, scholarships are competitive on a year-by-year basis. Recipients must re-apply each year for a scholarship renewal; they are not automatic or guaranteed.
