	Course Title:		Programming Languages: Design and Implementation
	Course Description: 	An examination of underlying concepts in high level programming languages
                                and techniques for the implementation of a representative sample of such
                                languages with regard to considerations such as typing, block structure,
                                scope, recursion, procedures invocation, context, binding, and modularity.
                                Each week lecture meets for 200 minutes and lab meets for 150 minutes.  
	Prerequisites:		CS 223 
	Textbook: 		Concepts of Programming Languages 9th ed. by R. Sebesta, 
				Published By Addison-Wesley
	Materials to be covered:
			       Chapters 1 to Chapter 14

	Time & Classroom:	9:30 - 10:45 Lecture	M.W.F  ( Sci III 315)
				9:30 - 12:00 Lab        Thurs. ( Sci III 311)

	Final Exam:		11:00 -13:30	Wed., March 21, 2012
	Midterm:		In about week 6. The exact date will be announced one week
				before exam date.

	Grading Policy: 	Homework :	40%
		 		Midterm (1):  	30%
				Final/Project:	30%
	Lateness Penalty:	For late homework, 10% off each weekday, and no deduction
				on weekends or holidays.
	Plagiarism Penalty:	You will  get 0 if copying each other is found
	Exams:	 		All the exams (midterm, final) must be taken on time, except
				some unusual cases such as unexpected accident or sickness 
				with the proper proof.

       January 16:              Martin Luther King Jr. Day - Campus Closd
       January 30:              Last day to add courses, to change between audit and letter grading.
       January 30:              Last day to change between credit/non-credit and letter grading.
       January 30:              Last day to withdraw from classes without a 'W' being recorded;
                                withdrawals from classes after this date and continuing through
                                the next four-week period will be permitted only for serious and
                                compelling reasons and require written approval by the Dean or
                                Department Chair.
       February 27:             Last day to withdrraw from classes for a serious and complelling
                                reason.
