Tell Them
You walk into the cabin and try to think of what to say. Andrew notices your concerned look and asks what's wrong. Your palms become clammy thinking of what to say. Why are you so nervous? "There's this creepy symbol on the front porch. I don't know if I'm overreacting but it kinda freaks me out." Andrew's eyes light up. "No way dude, a haunted house?!" He races outside and is quickly followed by Kylee. Jason shrugs and continues to unpack. You then walk outside to see what they think. You step outside into the cool air, they're gone!. You begin to worry, you look around the front of the house and can't find them. You look at where the symbol was written. Just like your friends, it's gone. You walk around the side of the cabin searching for them and before you get to the back of the cabin, you feel a hand grab your shoulder. You scream "AHHH!" The hand turns you around, it's Andrew. "What the hell? Are you good?" Heart still racing, you reply "Yeah.. sorry." "You've been acting weird this whole trip dude. Is anything wrong?" You briefly wonder about telling him of this morning's feeling but decide it wasn't important. "I'm.. fine man." "Well anyways," he says, "we didn't find that symbol you mentioned. Maybe it was just the grain of the wood or something that looked funny." You agree with him and you all head inside as the sun begins to set.
7:30 PM
After making dinner, you all sit together and watch a movie in the living room. They discuss briefly the options but Andrew is set on watching a scary movie (as you do in cabins). No one protests and the movie begins. Halfway through you start to feel cold. Must be snowing outside. You all end up covering up and continue watching the movie. While watching the movie you begin to feel off. Similar to this morning. Soon, you hear what you think are footsteps outside on the porch. The sound of large boots on wood enters the cabin. You look around and notice you're the only one who is hearing it. "Hey guy...." "SHHHHHH!" says everyone watching. Why aren't they listening to you?. You notice the movie is nearing the climax and realize the innocence of their reaction. The noise of footsteps outside has since stopped. You tuck it away in your memory as just your imagination and try to enjoy the rest of the movie.
11:00 PM
It's been a few hours since the movie had finished and they are still talking about it. You start to feel tired and check the time. You think it's probably late enough to get some sleep, you all did have a long day of traveling. Andrew then leans over to you and asks, "Hey so that "symbol" outside, do you remember what even looked like?" You can tell the movie may have worked him up a little. "Yeah, it looked almost like a bull with long horns." You shiver at the thought of it being carved into the wood. "Like this?" Andrew hands you his phone and shows you the symbol that you had seen earlier. He notices your surprise and figures he was correct. You see the website he was on and read the text related to the symbol. It states that this symbol is commonly found in this area of California and supposedly is meant to attract demons to a location. It is said that if someone is to see this symbol, then they will be marked to be a martyr for the demon to enter this plane. You start to tremble at the thought of the symbol but remember that no one else actually saw it. You force the feeling to pass and hand the phone back to Andrew. However, almost as if this were a trigger, the electricity in the house begins to flicker and eventually goes out completely. Everyone is startled and try the flashlights on their phones. They don't work. How is this possible?
Suddenly, you all begin to hear the same footsteps from earlier. Loud boots clacking against wood. The footsteps grow louder and louder. They stop. Whoever, whatever is out there, is right outside the door. You notice a large shadowy presence outside the door. Then, the figure shows itself, it is now inside.
