One of the most popular aspects related to Gundam is the hobby of collecting and building the various model kits released based on the series. Affectionatley termed "Gunpla" by its Huge Japan based fandom, the practice of constructing model kits and detailing and/or customizing them to perfection is one that draws in hobbyists from around the world. Furthermore, particularly Exceptional builders can even participate in tournaments under a variety of catagories ranging from completely custom to best background.
