The Doghouse is a tool to help you adopt a pet. Doghouse provides a showcase of animals from local shelters, and easy access to their websites. There are four shelters in the Doghouse. Alpha Canine Sanctuary is a 20-acre haven for dogs. The Bakersfield Animal Care Center is the city run shelter that offers to spay/neuter your pet, and even free microchipping. The Bakersfield branch of the ASPCA, which hosts community events and offers training for your pet. Kern County Animal Services is the county run shelter with branches in Bakersfield, Mohave, and Lake Isabella.

Even after adoption, Doghouse is still helpful for finding things for your dog, whether thats a bath, a trip to the vet, or even just a new toy. By making it easier to find the one you want to take home, Doghouse hopes to lower the number of animals that spend their nights in shelters.

If you are ready to adopt, please feel free to look through the animals on the site, or to go directly to the site of the shelters. There are hundreds of dogs across the Bakersfield shelters waiting for you to adopt them and bring them home.
