Jackets And My Life

As I've said before, I grew up in San Francisco. If you know San Francisco then you know that the weather is always cold and rainy. It is never really too hot in San Francisco. This type of climate helped with determining another style for kids in San Francisco. In high school, Asian kids would try to find the coolest looking jackets and hoodies. It was always windy and cold to ever wear just a light t-shirt or thin jacket. You had to have a jacket that was a little thick for the weather but also unique as a style. I don't know if this is like most other places in the world, but for kids in San Francisco finding something that was rare and looked extremely cool was our style. We didn't want to just wear North Face Jackets or whatever you could buy at Old Navy and such. We needed something to make us different and unique. There were too many kids that were wearing the same type of stuff.

With the picture that is above, you can see that the person is wearing a unique style. This is what all the San Francisco hypebeast kids would like. We were mostly of asian ancestry, the majority in San Francisco for public schools is Chinese. We were never the minority, white, black, and hispanic kids were all the minorities in our schools. This is not normal for any area in the United States but this was normal for public schools in San Francisco. With Asian ancestry, you could see why we would love the jacket like in the picture above. The jacket has cool asian symbols/characters on it! No company ever catered to the Asian American population at the time I was growing up. The internet wasn't as developed as it is today. If someone had the same jacket as the person's in the picture then they would've had my respect. That person must have either gone to Japan/China to buy that or made it himself. And that takes a lot of money or dedication to achieve.
