The Kegley Institute of Ethics (KIE) is committed to serving the greater Bakersfield community. To this end, KIE personnel engage in a number of community-focused initiatives including:

  • Ethics consulting and guest lectures for local community organizations and hospitals
  • Ethics education in prisons (including an 8-week ethics and philosophy seminar at North Kern State Prison and Ethics Bowl programming at the California Correctional Institution in Tehachapi, CA)
  • Philosophy for children programming at local public libraries and grade school classrooms
  • Ethics and social-emotional learning workshops for local K-12 educators
